Overview
The development envelopes far more than the flow and ebb of greens deluxe. Aside from the splendid river running through Vaal de Gráce, the islet features a host of natural fauna, including a large variety of bird species, impala, springbuck, mongoose, and more. Moreover, the distinct cry of the fish eagle is generously audible early morning or close to sunset, due to the multitude of these stately birds in the area. Golfing
On the outskirts of Parys approx. 75 minutes from Johannesburg, Vaal de Grace Golf Estate host the only Nick Price signature golf course in South Africa. Fourteen holes are situated in the North West Province, on an island in the Vaal River with the remaining four holes in the Free State.
There is also and driving range available for those who would like to hone their skills.
Property
The estate boasts 300 stands situated on 154 hectares on an island in the Vaal River. Some stands overlook the 18-hole championship golf course, other the majestic Vaal River.
Houses are designed on a farmhouse style with corrugated iron or slate roofing.
Accommodation
Vaal de Grace offers self-catering accommodation, with houses offering occupancy of between 6 to 12 guests.
The estate has a family friendly environment with paths for walking and cycling and a playpark for children to enjoy.
Location
The development is comfortably situated a couple of kilometres from Parys and just an hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Parys itself is something to behold. The area surrounding Parys is distinctive in that a Table Mountain sized meteor struck the earth nearby some two thousand million years ago – leaving an indent called the Vredefort Dome, the biggest and oldest of its kind in the world. Consequentially, the impact resulted in a rare array of geomorphological shapes and flora. Parys also sports a bouquet of antique shops and art galleries. There are eating places and restaurants galore, eateries with chairs facing the broad street, tables under giant spruce and oak trees… Expediently, one of Parys’ top eateries is right here, on Vaal de Gráce. Conveniently situated on the banks of the Vaal it’s an ideal spot for a sundowner after a hard day’s walking…

Course Designer – Nick Price
One of the Estate’s main inspirations is Nick Price, the South African born Zimbabwean who has, among dozens of wins, bagged the Open Championship and the PGA Championship – the latter more than once. In the mid-nineties he was regarded as the best player in the world. Known as one of the kindest fellows in the gentlemen’s game, he has persisted to play a great game – and these days his knowledge of golf courses is put to first-class value as a designer. Over the last decade Nick has collaborated on the design of ten golf courses with Steve Smyers, Craig Schreiner, Tommy Fazio and Tom Fazio. He is now working on his own through his own company, Nick Price Golf Course Design, on projects such as this in the United States and other international sites. Nowhere is his expertise clearly more visible than at Vaal de Gráce Golf Estate – the first full championship course designed by Nick Price in South Africa.
